All staff members are fully trained, competent and qualified to carry out tree works operations. We are committed to our employees development and strive to maintain a high skill level and efficient tree crew.
Qualifications held include a host of NPTC City and Guilds Certificates of Competence for all disciplines used within the tree work industry. These certificates cover everything from chainsaw operations to advanced tree dismantling and the use of mobile elevated work platforms.
This high level of training and certification results in a professional, safe and efficient work force. Proof of training and competence is also necessary to guarantee insurance cover in the event of a claim. Therefore we can carry out tree works with confidence in any given situation.
Two members of staff hold the Royal Forestry Society Certificate of Arboriculture whilst our most experienced tree surveyor holds the Royal Forestry Society Diploma of Arboriculture. Our team of 3 expert tree surveyors have a combined experience of over 70 years in the tree care industry.
Our company places health and safety in the workplace at the forefront of our priorities. Safeguarding our staff and the public from accident and injury comes before profit and inconvenience on every job. Our duty of care is fulfilled by carrying out a Risk Assessment before starting work at each new job location.
We are assisted with our responsibilities by Ryder Partnerships Health & Safety Consultancy. We have a company Health & Safety Policy Statement which prospective clients may view upon request.
Two members of our staff are qualified LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998) inspectors. Thorough examination of the condition of our tree climbing and tree dismantling equipment is carried out prior to each and every use. In-house thorough examination records are undertaken on a 6 month cycle whilst an external LOLER audit is carried out every 18 months ensuring our legal duties are fulfilled.
Regular checks and records are carried out for all our equipment, machinery and vehicles in accordance with the PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998).
Proprietor Alex Howden also holds the IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) Working Safely and Managing Safety qualifications.
All staff hold CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) cards having passed the CSCS Health and Safety examination.
Our attitude is to embrace health and safety law in order to carry out our work with little or no risk of injury to our workforce or the public.
Proper risk assessment records and our health and safety systems also ensure our tree surgeons insurance cover will stand up in the event of a claim.
We have in place a specialist Tree Surgeons Insurance policy providing Public Liability at £5 million and Employers Liability at £10 million. Our compliance with current health and safety regulations, staff qualifications and industry best practice approach all ensure that in the event of a claim our cover will stand up under scrutiny.
